Stolen From Africa and Manifesto present SANKOFA: A Virtual High School Tour!
Sankofa, "It is not taboo to go back and collect what we may have forgotten," is a multimedia presentation of interactive videos to connect, inspire and activate students into action through a celebration of Black Canadian identity and contributions. This presentation includes media samples from the “Hidden Treasures” curriculum, a virtual 3D African mask and storytelling exhibit and social commentary music videos from Haviah Mighty, Fame Holiday and Zakisha Brown. 1.CONNECT
participants through our collective history, identity and common interests. Remembering the past as we honour our present.
2.INSPIRE
Black Youth to feel seen, heard and understood via virtual interactive presentations and shared lived experiences from youths, artists and facilitators.
3.ACTIVATE
participants into collective action. Follow up workshops beyond February in collaboration with BSA’s to support the need for culturally relevant spaces, deeper understandings of community issues, advocacy tools for supporting staff, volunteer hours/ leadership opportunities for students via SFA and Manifesto.
