Hi everyone,

I’m sending you this email to bring something to your attention. As some of you may have already heard, this Fall the TDSB has launched its first Africentric High School Program which is housed in Winston Churchill Collegiate.

There are currently ONLY 5 students enrolled in the program. Significant resources have been committed to this program–development of curriculum and assignment of 3 teachers. Without an increase in enrollment, we run the risk of losing this learning opportunity for our young people.  I have recently met with the Principal at Churchill and he informed me that we need at least 10 students to continue operating with the existing resources without risk of reassignment.

I’m calling on you as brilliant and committed sisters, brothers, parents and supporters of our young people to please connect with our partners and networks to get the word out that there to parents and students that this Program is available and that spaces STILL are available.

For more information on what students qualify please take a look here:

Also, please contact your local trustees to inquire as to what’s going on at the TDSB around communication and outreach strategy regarding the Africentric High School.

We cannot afford to waste the immense moral/political capital that has already spent on this issue. We must show that we are determined and committed to seeing this school succeed.

For more information or questions please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to connect you to the appropriate person.

We can do this!

Peace,
