The African Canadian Children’s Literary Festival (ACCLF) is an annual festival dedicated to the celebration of education through reading, writing, spoken word, poetry and storytelling while promoting African culture, awareness and identity. The 4th annual ACCLF will be held on February 13 and 14 2010 from 12 noon – 6: 30 p.m. at the York Woods Library Theatre, located at 1785 Finch Avenue W., west of Keele Street in Toronto. Free admission for everyone.

Saturday February 13, 2010 – Literary Workshops

Doors Open @ 12 Noon, Story TIme & Workshops Begin @ 1 p.m., Panel Begins @ 3 p.m. – 6: 30 p.m.

The first day of the festival will feature story time and two literary workshops, ‘The Art Of Poetry’ and ‘The Evolution of Spoken Word.’ The second half of the day will include a youth discussion panel featuring panelists representing five different grass roots organizations.

Sunday February 14, 2010 – Storytellers Festival

Doors Open @ 12 Noon, Show Begins @ 1 p.m.

The second day of the festival features storytellers, keynote speakers and performances including a writing contest award ceremony. Winners of the ACCLF writing contest will be awarded with prizes for answering the question, “Which Black inventor has created an invention that has changed or enhance everyday living, and why?”

Keynote Speakers: Thando Hyman – Aman & Khadijah Lopez

Performances By: The Toronto Children’s Concert Choir & Aylisa

During both days of festival the ACCLF will collect funds and make a donation to Pierspective Entraide Humanitaire for Earthquake Relief in Haiti.
