Ready to March?

2:30PM
Jane and Wilson intersection

Live performances and speeches

“If you’re going to speak out about poverty, you better be prepared to make some noise.”

Our Demands include:
* Guaranteed minimum annual income for all residents of Ontario, and across the country, so no one lives in poverty
* Increase of 40 percent to the rate of social assistance (O.W. and O.D.S.P.)
* Access to special diet and start up and other benefits

We also demand dignity and respect. We demand high quality and accessible services for everyone.

JFAAP is coordinating bus pick up and drop off from different locations (Jane-Finch, Jane-Sheppard …). The march will start around 3:00 PM from the North-West corner of Jane and Wilson to 1860 and 1870 Wilson Ave, where the Welfare and ODSP offices are located.

People in our community cannot afford healthy and nutritious food. At the same time, welfare offices like Wilson frequently deny even the small benefits people are supposed to get. This must stop.

Last year, JFAAP organized a local rally on the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17, 2008 at the intersection of Jane and Finch, and the community enthusiastically welcomed it. This year’s JFAAP day of action, in collaboration with the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty and other social justice organizations, will be focused on the Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) offices.
